our story

Windy Indigo

Finding Joy in the Chaos

This little farm is our paradise on earth. Every day, we get to care for our sheep and an entire cast of supporting characters. We eat fresh eggs. We cuddle up in soft warm wool blankets. We imagine and create.

Katie, The shepherd

Once upon a time, there was a little girl.

With a curl.

She lived in the mountains of West Virginia.

Visiting Sue’s farm, with her sheep and rabbits, was always a treat.

Even in the mud.

Scott, the green thumb

Once upon a time, there was a boy.

With freckles.

He lived among the cornfields of Indiana.

Playing in the woods was everything.

Especially in the mud.

The farm kids

Now we have embarked on a new adventure here on Whidbey Island to recapture a bit of the magic and wildness of our own childhoods for our children.

Many will see the children and think that they are feral, untamed.

We will smile and say, “Perfect!”

Banks & eevie,

the protectors

Our invaluable partners on the farm, Banks and Eevie keep the sheep safe from coyotes.

While the dogs are friendly, and greet us enthusiastically when we approach, they are not pets. They own the pastures and are happiest patrolling the field perimeters.

In return, we feed and care for them, respect their space and expertise, and give them lots of love and opportunities to succeed.
