Hello Friends~

With a week or so of steady rains in our pocket, the pastures are starting to turn green again. Yay!

The shop has been quiet for awhile but I’m preparing a big update for the holidays. This week, I’m expecting to receive light and dark gray sport-weight Romney yarn back from the mill. I also have a few pops of scoured and combed white merino—so soft—and natural colored Romeldale/CVM boxed and ready.

Not sharing publicly yet, but since we’re friends…. I’m also developing an online community subscription highlighting the farm, sheep, and fiber arts. I’m most excited about the opportunities for families and classrooms to participate more directly in lambing. I’ll have extra lamb videos, meet-and-greets with the babies, and a community to geek out about it all. Still working out the final details, but it should be up and running in time for holiday gifting.

As for me, I’m looking forward to fall color and cuddling up with Scott and the kids around the fire pit.

Next up…

Shearing is October 26! If you’re interested in helping out, let me know. Many hands make light work, as they say.

Lamb shares will also be available soon. Be sure to add yourself to the waitlist if you’d like to be notified. Details

On the needles…

I finished the cream scarf that I was working on last month. The ends still need to be woven in and the whole thing blocked, but it’s close.

Rather than starting on a practical project, I’ve cast on a tiny lamb sweater using leftover Malabrigo (Dos Tierras in English Rose). There’s no pattern although I’m more or less copying the shape of a dog sweater that I had laying around. So, yes, I’m winging it. What’s the worst that could happen?

Love and magic.

Want to see me, my sheep or fiber in person?

Upcoming events:

Oct 14 & 15 – Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival

Linn County Expo Center, Albany, OR • opens at 9am

Sign up for one of the many workshops and visit the marketplace. I will have a selection of Romeldale/CVM fleeces for sale in the Fleece and Fiber Show. I’m having second thoughts about bringing fleece to this show, myself, as I have a very limited selection of fleece left and it’s a long way from home. But it should be a fun one to attend!

Oct 26 – Windy Indigo Shearing Day

Windy Indigo Farm & Fiber, Clinton, WA • starts at 9am

Email me at TheShepherd@windyindigo.com if you’d like to join us.
